Diana Kemunto Akara
Hey, my name is Diana Kemunto Akara and this is my portfolio. ABOUT ME I am of Bantu and Nilote origins. A God fearing Kenyan girl with roots from a Kisii background [Paternal] from the Kenyan highlands as well as Kalenjin background [Maternal] from the foot of Mt. Elgon which is in a village called Kitale, Kenya. My maternal background however consists of a touch of Ugandan roots and although I have never set foot in the land of “Matoke” [plantains-staple food of Uganda] I am proud to have Ugandan blood. I never got to meet my late grandfather but he was the Chief of a village in Uganda…I’m guessing Bukwa, Uganda because that is where my mother comes from. I am the African blogger. Born in 1988, September 16th was my day. First twelve years of my life saw me grow up in Nairobi, Kenya where I was born. The years that followed those first 12 saw me in this beautiful diamond producing country once called “Bechuanaland Protectorate” and now known as Botswana.[My paternal Grandfather still insists on calling it Bechuanaland…LOL] I am a Swahili speaker but after the past 12 years in Botswana, I can safely say I fairly understand and speak [to some extent] Setswana which is the National Language in Botswana. I love to travel. So far I have not ventured outside Africa but some day I’m sure I will…[hopefully world cup Brazil2014 will present an opportunity for me]. Of the few countries I have been to, Swaziland was the Best…very beautiful country. Namibia and South Africa too were great and I plan on visiting Lesotho in 2012 or maybe visit Namibia one more time.
